NAVIGATING THE “NEW NORMAL”

 

A Time to Come Together

 Being part of a senior team has been very rewarding during these turbulent times as we exercise duty of care towards colleagues throughout the hotels; ensuring regular dialogue with everyone and making sure everyone has access to support certainly helps to broaden ones horizons. 

Being genuinely interested in other people has many unexpected rewards especially when inspired by their selflessness, volunteering to support the NHS and assisting family and neighbours.
It is humbling to hear their stories and hear how desperate they are to get back to a work environment that is all about providing great service through anticipating needs and working in close collaboration with trusted colleagues.
Feeding off colleagues enthusiasm helps source new ways of working that will protect them in their daily activities – great initiatives are being worked up that will guarantee a safe working environment with updated hygiene operational standards designed to keep each other safe in addition to providing confidence to guests when we are permitted to reopen.
Something else that helps to recalibrate “a new normal” is working on plans to help expand the company. Negotiations that were understandable put on hold at lockdown have been restated and if these are as successful as we expect then a new normal will result in a company that is clearly demonstrating confidence in its existing high quality team and their ability to provide great service and customer satisfaction.
Whereas none of can be certain how the “new normal” will work out for us all what we can say with confidence is that the company is determined to support our loyal colleagues and reward them with opportunities as the company grows.
As I write we await the UK Governments review of the lockdown and hope that during this week a road map will emerge that will enable us to plan for reopening.

We are especially mindful of the additional anxiety the current restrictions are placing on couples and their families, all of us at Everbright Hotels undertake to work with them to be as supportive as possible rearranging dates and arrangements.
